History
History Green bug: Some of my earliest memories are of my father working behind our first house in North Fairmont at a little 2 car garage. Those were the legendary days when he was working 70+ hours a week for a meat packing company downtown then somehow finding time on the evenings and weekends to learn a new trade: auto body repair. He worked with my uncle Gail who eventually went on to focus on the mechanical side of things and eventually started a mechanical shop, Star Motors, in Clifton that he recently sold to his partner and then, shortly after, retired.

Well, after a couple years of teaching himself the trade he got a break from a local dealership who gave him a job to do. He fixed the car, painted it, cleaned it up and returned it to them by the end of that same day. At first they were shocked. Then when they realized it had actually been done they were pleased. So they gave him another job to see if he could do it again. After proving his abilities on a few more jobs they decided to hire him to manage their entire service department. After being in that role for a few years his entrprenuerial itch started to get to him again and he decided to launch out on his own once again. That was 1978. I was 9 years old at the time. Well, he started out with a bang and the business has been growing ever since. From the humble beginings of a 2 car garage in our backyard to now a 1 Million+ business and a second location.

Dad is moving on now. He's off to the greener pastures of Florida real estate and once again is finding a niche that is proving profitable. But he still keeps close tabs on what's going on with his shops in Cincinnati. Sometimes too close.... but that's family business. He's had the courage to start several businesses and even more courage to pass them off to the next generation. I plan to honor his investments of time, energy, money, blood, sweat and tears by keeping the businesses alive and thriving for another generation.
